Canada Day Celebrations

Ottawa, the national capital is considered as the main focus or center of attraction of the entire Canada day celebrations. Canada day is defined as a significant day for the country and its citizens. Like every year, this year too, the celebrations of Canada day 2016 will be a grand and energetic one. The Canada day celebrations mainly consist of parades, barbecues, cuisines, ceremonies, street performances, demonstrations, maritime shows, air shows, musical concerts, sports events, workshops and last but not the least, the firework displays. In simple terms, the Canada day celebrations consist of every possible ingredient for complete family fun.

Several communities and government organizations organize a lot of outdoor events for the the entertainment of the general public, and not only that these outdoor events demand the active participation of the common people.It is literally termed as one of the largest and topmost celebrations. The main celebrations of the Canada day also include a ceremony for the new citizens of the country and this event is called 'citizenship ceremonies'.

Celebrations of Canada Day

It would not be wrong to define the Canada day celebrations as a summer festival. Every year, the anniversary of the Canada day is celebrated in a true jovial and colorful style. The gala celebrations of the Canada day 2016, will start with a vast range of enlightenment activities. For instance, the Canada day celebrations in Ottawa attract a large number of crowd ( both young and old) from all across the country.

Some of non-government communities organize lavish events that mainly comprise of the the performances of the various renowned artists of the country to expert gymnasts. The firework displays, that are one of the main attractions of the Canada day events, are wonderfully performed by several skillful and trained firefighters. The live musical performances that compliments the firework shows are thoroughly enjoyed by the Canadians. The auspicious Canada day is a day of pride for its citizens and accordingly the Canada day celebrations maintains the spirit of the anniversary ambiance.

1st of July is Canada's birthday. Most of the federal organizations of the country remain closed. However, there is no common or authoritative mode of celebrating this day. So, the common people make the maximum use of it. The common people celebrate this day in their own way, it is also seen as an opportunity to spend time with their near and dear ones.

Here is a set of events that are being organized at different locations within Canada; to commemorate the birth of the beautiful country of Canada:

Canada Day at Canada Place

As an award-winning event, Canada Day at Canada Place is presented by the Port of Vancouver and is indeed the largest Canada Day celebration outside the national capital, Ottawa. This event has been Vancouver's premier event since 29 years and marks the collaboration of different communities, which share a special bond of living in Canada and celebrating their values, freedom and diversity. The event is scheduled to take place on 1 July 2016 between 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. followed by parade and fireworks. Venue would be Canada Place, Jack Poole Plaza and surrounding streets. Some of the highlights of the event include live music by Mo Kenney, Twin Kennedy etc,. Citizenship ceremony, exhibits on Expo86 memories and many more.


Aboriginal Showcase and Powwow at Prince's Island Park in Calgary

Scheduled between 10:00a.m and 06:00 p.m., this event would allow you to dig deeper into Canada's rich heritage. The event will be presented by Bow Valley College's Innikokaan Aboriginal Centre.


Canada Day at Fort Calgary

On 1 July 2016, Fort Calgary would be hosting a free pancake breakfast, live music and entertainment, petting zoo and children's crafts in order to celebrate Canada Day with a whole lot of fun and excitement. The event would take place between 09:00 a.m. and 04:00 p.m.


Canada Day Burrard Inlet Fireworks Show

On 1 July 2016, an annual Fireworks Show would be organized At Vancouver Downtown/Coal Harbour from 10:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The fireworks can be watched from northwest-side Downtown (including Coal Harbour and parts of Stanley Park), West Vancouver(including the seawall between Ambleside and Dundarave) and North Vancouver(including Lower Lonsdale).
