A popular protein rich indo chinese starter recipe, made with soya been nuggets.
It is easy to prepare. The dry variants of soyabean chilli is popular, but can also be made with gravy too.


  • 2 cups soyabean
  • 1 large onion cubed
  • 1 capsicum cubed
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 2 green chillies cut lengthwise
  • 2 tbsp red chilli sauce
  • 4-5 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 1 tbsp green chilly sauce
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • Oil for frying
  • For marination- 3 tbsp maida
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 2tsp dahi
  • To taste Salt
  • 1tsp black pepper


1. Take boiling 4 cups  of hot water in a bowl, add 1 tsp salt and put soya chunks in it and let it boil for 5 mins over medium hear till the soya chunks are soft.

2. Once they are soft, strain and let it cool. Squeeze out the excess water from the soyabean and keep it aside.

3. In a bowl take soya bean add all the marination ingredients and mix it well.

4. Heat oil in a kadai once hot add marinated soya chunks and fry till golden from all sides.

5. Remove from gas on tissue paper to remove excess oil.

6. Heat oil in a pan, once hot add finely chopped onions, ginger garlic paste, finely chopped green chillies and  fry and let it cook till the raw smell of garlic goes.

7. Add cubed onions and capsicum and saute for a minute. Do not over cook at this stage as the capsicum will loose its crunch.

8. Next add all the sauces and season with salt and pepper. Mix it well.

9. Next add fried soya chunks toss it well in the sauces cook for a minute garnish with some spring onion greens  and coriander leaves and Serve!!
