Lakshmi Puja which is performed on the day of Diwali at night, falls on the new moon day of dark fortnight. According to Hindu calendar, the festival falls on Amavasya of Krishna Paksha in the month of Ashwin. It is believed Goddess Lakshmi visits the house of devotees on this day and to give a proper welcome to Goddess people clean their houses and decorate them with lights and diyas. They also prepare offerings comprising of sweets and delicious food. The goddess is known to bestow dharma, karma, artha, and moksha to people. Goddess Lakshmi is also associated with wealth. She is worshipped in three forms – Lakshmi, Mahalakshmi, and Saraswati. Lord Ganesha who is regarded as the remover of obstacles is also worshipped along with Goddess Lakshmi and Kubera, the treasurer of gods. Since Lakshmi puja is essential ritual on Diwali. Diwali Puja should be done at an appropriate Diwali Puja Muhurat considering fixed Lagna, Pradosh time and Amavasya Tithi.


Step – 2 Lakshmi panchayatan puja
Sri Suktam, Lakshmi Suktam are various hymns to do worship of Goddess Lakshmi in Sanskrit language. But those who do not know Sanskrit, there is a puja vidhi of Lakshmi ji available. This puja is very effective because it is the puja of Lakshmi panchyatan.it is believed that those who do Lakshmi panchayatan puja, is blessed with grace of Goddess Lakshmi very quickly.

Collect all these things together at one place.

Spread red cloth on puja chawki.

Place idol of Goddess Lakshmi, Saraswati and Lord Ganesha on chawki.

Place 3 heaps Akshat in front of Goddess Lakshmi for Lord Vishnu, Indra and Kuber.

Diya For Diwali Puja

Light a diya to start puja. This diya should be kept lit whole night.

Offer some flowers, akshata (sacred rice), and a supari to Lord Ganesha.

Now start Lakshmi pujan. Put Tilak of roli and akshata on forehead of Goddess Lakshmi. Offer dhoop, flowers, sweets and to Goddess Lakshmi.
Now offer cotton seeds , coriander seeds, turmeric, silver coin, currency notes, supari to Goddess Lakshmi.

Pray to Lord Kuber , Lord Indra , Goddess Saraswati along with Goddess Lakshmi.
Do worship by offering earthen lamp, scent, flowers, dhoop and sweets.

Next, you need to perform the aarti for Goddess Lakshmi.
