Through a wedding vow you promise love, care and togetherness to your beloved on your wedding day. Since ages lovers have exchanged vows of love to stand by each other till death came their way. Wedding traditions differ in different cultures. In the Western world, the church usually dictates the terms of the wedding ceremony. It usually follows a standard wedding vow which has to be followed by the bride and the groom.
.

A Christian marriage has to be registered with the church. Therefore, the wedding vows of the couple have to be approved by the priest or the officiant. In such cases it is preferable to follow a standard wedding vow. There are a few standard wedding vows which can be followed by the couple during their marriage ceremony. Here is one for example, the words of which can be modified a bit to suit your unique and personal needs. I, __________, take you ___________, to be my (wife/husband), to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do us part. When a priest officiates a marriage he asks both the bride and the groom series of questions for which they have to say “I Will” and then lets them vow their love and faithfulness to each other. This process is quite a long one at the end of which the groom kisses the bride and the priest declares them to be man and wife. A standard wedding vow may even differ from church to church. A wedding vow is the most important part of a wedding ceremony which a marriage won’t take place. Flip through the pages of Dgreetings to know more about wedding vows.
