Irish Wedding Ring

Exchanging of Wedding Rings is a very old custom in any religion. And this custom still persists becoming widespread all over the world. In fact, exchanging of wedding rings and vows is an emotional moment for couples, friends and their relatives. Irish people also exchanged rings and this is what Irish Wedding Ring is. Originating from the conventional Celtic religion, the ‘heart’ symbolizes love, the ‘clasped hands’ symbolize togetherness and company, and ‘the crown’ symbolizes perpetuity and eternity. In fact, the interlaced strands on the ring band are symbolic of union of two lives.
The exchanging of wedding ring holds a great importance. It is indicative of two things—total possession and responsibility on the part of both the partners.
Irish Wedding Ring—symbol of accountability and commitment is associated with many significant aspects of marriage. The closeness of the heart also has some significance when worn on the left hand’s fourth finger. Like if the heart of the Irish Wedding Ring is away from the body, it revealed the fact that Irish Wedding Ring was engaged and if the heart turned towards the wearer it stated that the person was married. Conversely, on the right hand, with the heart turned inward indicating the wearer was involved in a relationship, and turned outward indicating the wearer was unattached.
The most important Irish Wedding Ring was Claddagh Ring. This ring was beautiful with intricate designs and exquisite craftsmanship.
The Irish couples design their own Claddagh rings, leaving their own personal mark on to the Irish Wedding Ring. There is an Irish tradition that the Irish Wedding Ring should be gifted and not purchased directly.
