Given below are some ideas for Valentine. crafts that are simple, fast and easy and can be made with only a few items. These are also ideal if you are organizing a V-day party where kids have been invited. |
Heartstring
Items you need:
- Cardboard tube
- Embroidery string
- Needle
- Red poster color
- Pushpin
- Colorful beads
Process: Paint the cardboard tube in red and then cut it in equal strips. Flatten the strips and then give them the heart shape. Make holes at the top and the bottom of the hearts.
Tie a knot at the end of the string and then push a bead into it. Secure a bead at the end of the thread. Then push the needle through the heart and secure it in its position with another bead. Repeat the process with all the hearts. Create a string of hearts and beads.
V-day tote bag
Items you need:
- Stiff felt: Red and pink color
- Marker
- Tape measure
- Twist-tie
- Scissors
- Hole punching machine
- Ribbon
- Glue
Process: Cut two identical hearts from the stiff felt. Cut two smaller hearts of the other color. Afterwards, cut two strips that are 1 ½ inch wide and double the length of the hearts. With the marker make points 1 inch apart in the hearts and the strips and make holes with punching machine. Make a needle from twist-tie.
Push the ribbon through the hole with a needle and attach the two hearts with the long strips. Use whipstitch to make your knots secure. Stick the excess strips together to make a handle for the tote. Attach the smaller hearts at the center on either side of the bag. Use beads, flowers and glitters to decorate your heart shaped tote bag. You can keep all your Valentine’s Day love notes, cards and messages in it.
Cupid arrows for Valentine
Items you need:
- Wooden skewer: 6”
- A pack of bubblegum of your favorite flavor
- Gumdrop heart
- Glue
- Colored Tissue
Process: Paint the skewer in bright color. You can also use glitters and sparkles for the same. Allow the paint to dry. Stick the bubble gum packs to the wooden skewer and add the gumdrop heart at one end. Attach colored tissues at the other end of the skewer to create feathers. Your cupid arrow is ready to find its target.
Cardboard cupid
Items you need:
- Cardboard tube: 8”
- Acrylic paints of peach, pink, red, white, and black
- 1" strip of white card board stock/construction paper
- Chenille stems of red, golden and silver glitter
- Pencil or marker
- Paint brush
- felt paper of peach color
- 2 cotton balls
- Craft glue
- Scissors
Process: Paint the cardboard tube with peach color. Set aside to dry. Now with the help of pink, red, white and black paints draw eyes, cheeks and mouth of the cupid. You can also use wiggle eyes.
Now from the red chenille stem make one bow by bending it into shape ‘D’. Use the remaining red chenille stem for arrow. With the gold chenille stem make a small triangle and attach it at the front of the arrow. Make a heart from the chenille stem and fix it at the other end of the cupid’s arrow . Cut a strip from the white construction paper and attach it with glue at the lower portion of the tube. This will be the diaper of the cupid.
From silver chenille stem cut two equal halves and bend them in teardrop shape. Attach the wings at the back of the cupid with the help of a cardboard piece. Stick the bow and the arrow in front of the cupid. Cut two small hands from flesh colored felt paper and attach to the bow. Stick some of the cotton on the head of the cupid and allow it to dry completely. Your cupid is ready.
Valentine king crown
Items you need:
- White construction paper
- Red chenille stems
- Red and pink felt papers
- Wire cutters
- Pen
- Scissors
- Measuring tape
- Scale to measure
- Stapler, tape, or glue
Process: Measure your head with the measuring tape. Draw the length in the construction paper and cut out a 2 inch wide strip. Stick the two ends of the strip to give it a round shape. Cut two big red hearts and several small hearts from the red felt.
Cut small hearts from the pink felt as well. After that, cut two pieces of same length from the red chenille stem. Fix the two big red hearts on one side of the red stems. Set aside to get dry. Now stick the small red and pink hearts alternatively around the crown. Attach the stems on either side of the hat. Your Valentine’s Day crown is ready.
Valentine heart
Items you need:
- 1” squares of pink and white tissues
- Craft glue
- A pair of scissors
- A piece of card stock
- Pencil with an attached eraser
Process: Cut out a big heart from the card stock (approximately 7” in length). Now draw a smaller heart inside the center of the big heart. Put the eraser end of the pencil in the middle of the pink tissue paper squares and twist them around to give a crumbled look. Dot the crumbled tissues inside the smaller heart with glue. Repeat the process with the red tissue squares and fill the rest of the heart. Attach a string at the back of the heart and hang it in the wall.
Valentine conversation heart wreath
Items you need:
- Card board stock: pink, red, blue, lilac, purple
- 1 heart patterned hole-puncher or cookie cutter
- Scissors
- Markers or sketch pens
- Glue sticks
- 9” paper plate
Process: Cut out the rim of the paper plate. Also draw a smaller circle inside the plate. Cut out the smaller circle to make a wreath shape. Now, cut heart patterns from the colored card stock (you can also cut them with the hole punching machine).
Write sweet Valentine messages, like ‘kiss’, ‘hugs’, ‘love’, ‘be my Valentine’, ‘pals’, ‘ u r mine’, in the hearts with markers or sketch pens. Arrange the hearts around the paper plate wreath. Stick them with glue stick. Now hang the wreath outside the door.
