Silence! Have you ever felt those moments in your conversation when everything just went silent? When the gestures made by you did the talking part. Those moments when no words came out of your mouth but the other person understood everything. An intellectual once said, “Silence speaks more than your words”. Well sometimes silence does play a major role in our lives and even in our relationships. But silence is interpreted differently by
differently people. In fact it would be much better to say that men and women interpret silence in the conversations differently.

Scenario 1
Girl: Darling, where do you see our relationship five years from now?
Boy: [To himself] do you even want to be with me after five years?
The boy remains silent.
Girl: you are not thinking seriously about this question? Right?
Scenario 2:
Boy: How do like this song?
The girl remains silent
Boy: Yeah! I know the song is fabulous!

Both men and women take silence in different ways. Boys would take silence to be a sign of affirmation and agreement and won’t even feelthe need to take silence as an indication of something to ponder about or as a symbol of something wrong. The reason may be that boys or men don’t dig too seriously. They take things as they come, without adding any complications to them. So if your guy remains silent while watching television and does not talk to you then it simply means that he wants to watch television without any kind of disturbance and is not thinking about your relationship.
Women on the other hand are not so good takers of silence. According to an expert, women are really good at pilling up layers of meaning. If a woman goes silent in a conversation, then it simply means that either she is thinking about the conversation seriously or is just assessing your response to come. In fact women are known to be silent talkers. They have the ability to say a whole lot of things while remaining silent. They can be assessing your personality by remaining silent and you would not even come to know about it. So next time your girl goes silent during a conversation, beware as she may be thinking very seriously about your conversation.
