Give your Love Birds the best diet—they deserve it! Love Birds are lovely little creatures and to keep them healthy and wise—provide them with healthy Love Bird Diet. If they are in open air, they live by eating seeds of various fruits and grasses, various plants and insects—they are habituated eating that. However, with the change of environment and habitat, their eating habits also change. Give them sufficient amount of seeds, grains, green food, fruits and nuts. And yes, do not forget to provide fresh water! |
Seeds and Grains include canary grass seed, flax seed, sunflower seed, safflower, soybeans, rye, whole wheat, whole brown rice, fennel, caraway, poppy and sesame. However, sunflower seeds must not be provided in abundance, as these will create an imbalanced Love Bird Diet. Green Food can include green peas, mango leaves, tomatoes, fresh corn, cucumber, broccoli, dandelion, dried pepper, carrots, parsley and lettuce. You can give more of Wheatgrass, as it is very rich in chlorophyll, and other vitamins and minerals.
Fruits form about 10% of the Love Bird Diet. It includes nearly all the fruits like apples, banana, grapes, raspberries, rose hips, melons, figs, oranges, cherries, and kiwis. Nuts should be shelled and it consists of hazelnuts, peanuts, Brazil nuts, acorns and horse chestnuts. You should feed you bird parrot 2-3 teaspoons per day per bird. And always be sure to provide them with cuttlebone or mineral block as a supplement in their cage. However, food containing sugar, fast food, greasy food, and chocolates should be totally avoided.
