Sikh event celebrations

: Sikhs celebrate the birthdays and martyrdom days of the ten Sikh Gurus every year. The Sikh event calendar marks these days as important days and Gurupurabs. The dates of these Sikh festivals also depend on the Nanakshahi calendar.
The two most important Gurupurabs celebrated on the Sikh event calendar are the birthdays of first Sikh Guru, or the pioneer of the faith, and the birthday of Guru Gobind Singh. Apart from these, Baisakhi is celebrated with great enthusiasm. This festival not only marks the New Year of the Sikhs, but is also the day when Khalsa was formed by the tenth Guru of the Sikhs, Guru Gobind Singh.
Sikhs celebrate the Gurupurabs by indulging in various activities, like visiting temples, reading scriptures, singing religious songs, reading of from the Guru Granth Sahib as Akhand Path, participating in religious processions, and with shows like artillery performances.
