Pet Door

You have got yourself a pet. And now you don’t want to spend the rest of your life acting as a doorman for your cuddly bundle of joy. We humans can stay inside a house for days without even seeing the sunlight. But for animals it is not an easy task. They won’t feel alive if they are confined to a room while you are at office or out shopping. What do you do when your cute pet has to attend nature calls at midnight? Surely a pet door will come to your rescue.
A pet door is usually a small opening in the wall or door of your house which allows your pet, whether it is a cat or a dog, to go out of the house whenever they want and return back through the same route. Thus, a pet door not only offers unlimited freedom to your pet, it also makes sure that you are saved from the hassles of messy litter trays, ruined carpets and furniture and unwanted night trips. Such pet doors are utterly essential for cats as they are quite famous for their night walks and roaming in the neighborhood. If your dog is not of a homely kind then it is preferable that you get a dog door installed at your home. Pet doors can be of various types such as a dog door or a cat flap.

Dog Door
Generally dog doors comprise hinged flaps that are set into a wall, door or window for easy passage of a pet dog. Dog doors in rural areas very often do not allow a pet dog to roam about in the neighborhood. Unlike in the cities they allow a dog to access only the garden or yard of the house. Dogs should be trained from the beginning on how to use dog doors. Some dog doors are constructed in such a way that only the dog can enter an exit through it, preventing other creatures to enter the house. These pet doors are safe for dogs. As the flaps are made of soft vinyl there is no chance of the dog getting trapped or hurt. Sometimes pet doors are fitted with magnets making it an energy efficient closure.

Cat Door
Cat flaps are said to be designed by Sir Isaac Newton in the 17th century. In the US, they are popularly known as kitty doors. Their purpose and placement in a house is similar to that of dog doors but, kitty doors are usually smaller in size. According to the Webster’s Dictionary, cat doors and cat flaps are the same thing. A simple cat flap is a weighted one but the problem with it is that it makes a lot of noise when the wind blows hard. This problem can be solved with the help of a magnet. Cat flaps these days are designed in such a sophisticated manner that they do not allow any other creature to enter the house except the pet cat. If there are very small children in the house then the cat flap should be secured so that the child does not crawl out of the house through it.

Thus, pet doors have become an essential part of our lives. Keep surfing through the pages of Dgreetings to know all about pets.
