"They're not dogs [poodles], they're art."
Elegant and well balanced, Poodle Dog Breed is a bag of characters. The poodle dog breed boasts of being the liveliest, intuitive, thoughtful, and intelligent animals. Highly energetic and playful, they display a tremendous sense of humor with their quaint antics. |
The Toy Poodle is an extremely devoted and sensitive little pooch which is just the perfect pet for a less active person who has got enough time to pamper this amusing little clown.
Poodle appears in three breeds: Standard, Miniature, and Toy. The Standard Poodle is the oldest one which is considered as the forebear of Miniature Poodle and Toy Poodle. Popular in Russia and Germany since the early 16th century, the Standard Poodle is associated with the Portuguese Water Dog and Irish Water Spaniel.
Though it was originally bred to retrieve waterfowl, by the end of the 18th century it became popular as a circus dog with the poodle act being the centre of attraction of every traveling circus.
Weighing around 45-65 lbs and standing 15-21 inches tall, poodle is a versatile breed that stands out in the show ring, the field and in the home too. With a thick, harsh coat that is either curly or frizzy, poodle needs extensive grooming. The coat is seen in rainbow of colors as gray, silver, cream, apricot, blue, caf-au-lait, black, white, red, and brown.
These are some of the aspects that one needs to look into while getting a poodle at home.
