Chihuahua is the pint-size dog and known as the 'smallest' breed of dog across the globe. Moreover, it is named after the Chihuahua state in Mexico. This breed has been around for many years both as a popular pet and a religious symbol. Indeed, there are many theories related to the origin of the dog. The history of Chihuahua dog dates back to the time of the Aztecs. Some people believe that the Chihuahua dog was associated with Techichi-Aztec civilization. Other theories reveal that Spanish adventurers brought them to the 'New World'. And the third belief is that the Chinese could have developed this miniature breed of dogs. After they were developed, they were brought to Mexico by Spanish conquistadors.

Characterized by their small size and large eyes, the Chihuahua is a funny dog. It has an apple-shaped head and erect ears. This dog makes for great companion. Chihuahuas are lively, vivacious, active and creative by temperament. They are well known for their loyalty and devotion. They immediately become close to their family and their masters. However, their negative quality is only being jealous. They are stubborn yet can be easily trained to socialize with other breeds as well as with strangers. They are intelligent and so, quickly pick up whatever is taught to them. They love the gently reinforcements from their masters. However, sometimes this dog is not fit for children, as they do not mingle with them easily.
