Basic Dog Training |
|
|
It is the basic and natural instinct of a dog to cooperate with its compatriots. The reason may be because through the ages dogs have actually evolved from wolves and wolves live in packs and cooperate with each other. Selective breeding by humans have either exaggerated or refined these wolf-like instincts in dogs. These characteristics find exposure in a pet dog’s behavior when it interprets |
correctly and responds to the signals or commands given by its human handler. Anybody who handles a dog should give basic dog training to a dog.Other than wild dogs, most dogs live with human beings. Therefore, for the happiness of both dogs and their human owners, it is essential for them to get some basic dog training. Giving basic dog training to pet dogs makes them pleasant personalities, increases their safety, and also ensures safety for other people and pets. Dogs are not born with a natural inclination towards obedience. Therefore, they need to be given training from an early age. Six to eight weeks is the ideal time to start a puppy’s basic dog training.
Basic dog training involves communicating in a way so that the dog perceives what its human handler wants to say. The first thing to know about dog training is to reward positive behavior of a dog and immediately correct any negative behavior. There are five basic commands which should be taught to every pet dog. These are:
Sit
Stay
Down
Heel (walk side by side on a loose-leash)
Recall (it also means ‘here’ or ‘come’)
The most important command of all these is the recall command. One should never ever punish a dog which fails to respond to this command. Otherwise, the result will be that dog will become frightened of you. For more detailed information on dog training, keep surfing through the pages of Dgreetings.
