| Different religious practices are associated with the celebration of Mother’s Day. As in ancient times, Greeks marked the day as a holiday in honor of Rhea while ancient Romans worshipped Cybele and in British Isles and Celtic Europe, the goddess Brigid, and St. Brigid, were wassailed with first milk of ewes to mark Mother’s Day. But with changing times, Anna Jarvis was said to be the power behind the official establishment of Mother's Day in America which later came to be followed in other parts of the world. |
