Customs of Karwa Chauth
The festival of Karwa Chauth is considered as one of the most wonderful occasions of this vibrant country. As per the customs of this festival, the celebrations begin early in the morning just before sunrise and ends in the evening after the sunset.
On this day, married women get ready by wearing colorful traditional clothes and by wearing loads of jewelries. They wear mehndi or henna on their hands. It is a popular custom of Karwa Chauth festival. They do not eat anything for the entire day. The women chat with each other, perform different interesting activities or play games for passing the time. In the evening time, married women of a family or a locality gather at one place, they sing songs, one of them narrate the Karwa Chauth story (it helps in understanding the importance of this auspicious occasion) and after that they offer prayers to Goddess Gauri for seeking her blessings for the prosperity and long life of their husbands. Once the moon arises, they have a look at it and also have a glimpse of their husbands through a sieve and after that they break their fast by drinking water.
