Celebrated on 14th of August the Pakistan Independence Day is a day of dedication and pride for the people of Pakistan. In the year 1947, on this particular day Pakistan was made an independent country by the British. The country surfaced out of the Indian subcontinent in the year 1947, the border lines of which was created by the British when they were on the verge of ending their rule in India. The day is observed all over Pakistan as a national holiday. Independence in Pakistan was officially announced on Thursday, August 15, 1947 at 12:00 am. Pakistan Independence Day is also known by the name of “Yom-e-Istiqlal”. It is one of the most remarkable days in the history of Pakistan.

Pakistan Independence Day Celebrations:

  • The celebration is a grand affair and all over the country people are seen to be in their jovial moods.
  • All the major cities of Pakistan witness a grand celebration. The government offices and many other official buildings are decorated.
  • Flags are hoisted in every nook and corner to bring in the very essence of the festival.
  • Along with the flag raising ceremony, giant parades and cultural programs are also held in all the major cities.
  • Schools and various institutional organizations arrange flag hoisting ceremony to commemorate the day
  • Family and friends get together and enjoy the day over lunch, dinner or even go out for a picnic.
  • Various entertainment programs are also held in the different cultural centers all over the country.
  • There are also public displays of fireworks.

The main celebration is held in the capital city, Islamabad. It is here that the President as well as the Prime Minister raise the National Flag and deliver speeches highlighting points on the major goals of the nation, paying.

Significance of Pakistan Independence Day:

  • The significance of the day lies in paying tribute to the lost heroes and in raising the hopes for a bright future. Pakistan acquired its National Flag in the year 1947 on 14th of August.
  • The colors used in the flag have a significance of its own.
  • The white color represents the minorit
  • The green color symbolizes the majority.
  • The moon symbolizes the progression of the Islamic country and the five stars signify enlightenment and knowledge.
