Rakhi is an important festival in the Indian Calendar. Celebrated on the Full moon day of Shravan (August), the festival seeks to reaffirm the values that are so quintessentially Indian. It celebrates the love of a brother and a sister, and involves the sister tying a Rakhi or an amulet around here brother's wrist while all the time appealing to the Gods to protect him from all evil and harm. The Brother on his part vows to protect her from worldly harms and uphold her honor in all circumstances.
