Wedding Bands

New Orleans is considered to be the center of the universe musically. It is the birthplace of jazz, blues, zydeco, swamp rock, rhythm and blues and swing. Stroll down to any street and you can hear live music from some of the best musicians in the world.

There are various wedding music bands available. Now it’s all up to you as to which one you want to hire according to your own needs and budget.

However, being one of the best in the world does not make them good wedding reception bands.

Here are some things to avoid.
Any band with the size of speakers equal to the refrigerators will not be a band that your mother would want to dance on. So be careful.

A brass band and their posse can be exciting for a second line street parade, but will not translate well in a hotel ballroom.

If the bandleader is related to either the bride or the groom, this is a procedure for disaster, as someone’s feelings will be hurt when the line between employee and guest is blurred.

If the band heads for the bar even before even before they finish setting up, then please watch out. Set clear guidelines while booking the band about breaks, food and beverage privileges.

Remember that a band has to please a wide range of tastes and age groups. Find out if the band takes their requests and if the bandleader will act as a sort of master of ceremonies.

Finally a band that sounds great in the bar at two in the morning may not be correct for a late afternoon wedding. Make sure that your choice of band in a venue is similar to the one you will be hiring.
