The rate with which the desert rose can grow under optimum conditions could be few weeks or months. Gypsum and selenite, forms of gypsum are soluble and desert roses are found in the shallow areas of desert sand when there is any seasonal rainfall it is likely that the roses fall to pieces and dissolve on an annual basis. It is possible that the period of formation of these can be (in optimal conditions) weeks or months, but not years. There are many areas where they are found that are not extremely dry climates like Texas. No doubt in some climates where rainfall is not an annual event, these may grow for year.
Meaning Of Desert Roses
Desert rose is a South African shrub having an inflamed luscious stem along with showy pink and white flowers after the leaves fall it is used as a popular ornamental in tropics which is used as a showpiece in houses and gives a good look.
Also Desert rose is a name of a plant with scientific name Adenium obesum and desert Rose is a native of East Africa. It grows from 6 to 10 feet in the desert. It has sarcoid leaves and beautiful 2-inch pink open-trumpet shaped flowers.
Desert rose is the informal name given to rosette formations of the mineral deposits like Gypsum and Barite with sand. The rosette crystal pattern occurs when the crystals are formed in dry sandy conditions. Gypsum roses usually have better defined, sharper edges as compared to barite roses.
