Graduation Party Ideas

A party is a celebration thrown in honor of a special person, for the sake of a particular reason, or for no reason at all. Graduation is one such special occasion, which gives a reason to celebrate the success of a special person. The pivotal point of any party is none other than to have fun. But to make any party enjoyable and unforgettable, a lot of planning is required. Here’s a guide to planning a great graduation party to celebrate your graduate’s achievement.
  • As graduation approaches your first job is deciding what type of party you want to have. There are many options: An open house with lots of friends and family, a formal dinner, a lunch or a party in the daytime, an evening party focused on young graduate’s friends, a picnic in a park or on a beach, a cookout or an adventurous day out!!

  • Choosing a party date is the next task. Make sure you choose a time when most of your guests are not busy, so try weekends when everybody wants to take a break. When you think about the date, decide if you would like to celebrate in the morning, the middle of the day, or the evening. Pick a theme which your graduate likes and sent out the invitations well in time.

  • Decide a location according to the requirements and your budget. First thing is to make a guest list so you know the number and the average age group of the guests. Most people host their parties at home or backyards so take a look around and see if you have enough space for food, dancing, displaying photos of the graduate, chair and table arrangements etc. If you want to be lavish and different you can have a party at a poolside, health club, restaurant, resorts, church, community activity centers etc.

  • Budgeting your party is most important. Calculate from the beginning how much you want to spend for everything-location, decoration, food and beverages, entertainment, invitations and don’t go overboard with your expenses once a budget is set. A great way to save some money and time would be co-hosting a party with other families or graduate’s friends.

  • Hiring a caterer is a great alternative to doing all of the work yourself. If you are hosting the party in your own home, feel free to plan on making or buying some of the food and/or beverages yourself. To make things easy, serve five to seven different menu items and avoid serving too much.

  • To make the graduation party special and exciting you can hire some entertainment. Choose from a caricaturist, handwriting analyst, musicians, face painters, karaoke, or a fortuneteller. Add a bit of Vegas touch to your party by setting up some gambling tables for the young and adults. Grads would love bungee boxing, bungee basketball, volleyball, and croquet for outdoor daytime parties.

  • Be creative and imaginative with invitations, decorations and thank you notes. Use hats, tassels, school logos, diploma scroll, graduation photos to make these special. To honor the graduate use banners, scrapbooks, poster boards, photo confetti, posters, memory books. Make it as unique as possible because this the most important part of the graduation party.
