The graduation march in the United States is often set to music, usually Edward Elgar's ‘Pomp and Circumstance’ March No. 1. However, despite the fact that the tradition of playing ‘Pomp and Circumstance’ was borrowed from English universities, Universities in the UK no longer play it on Graduation day , as it is a patriotic hymn.
