White is the color of innocence, purity and rebirth. Significant occasions like birth, death and weddings are marked by this pure hue across the world. White Rose
Also known as Rosa Alba. These are some of the oldest roses in the world, they were probably bought to England by the Romans. It is said that the White Rose sprang from the sweat of Prophet Mohammad which fell to the earth on his journey to heaven. The Greek believed that white roses sprang where the tears of Venus fell when she mourned the death of her beloved Adonis. In Wales, the white rose represents innocence and silence and hence is placed on the grave of a child. It is also one of the most popular white wedding flowers.
White Lily
Legend has it that lilies were originally yellow, but they turned white when the Virgin Mary stooped to pick it. Another story tells that the White lily sprang from Eve’s tears when she learnt that she was being expelled from Eden. It is also said, that white lilies sprang up on the graves of people executed for crimes they did not commit, thus signifying innocence. It is also the symbol of Resurrection and Easter, thereby symbolizing Purity and Chastity.
White lotus
The pure white lotus plant is the only plant to fruit and flower at the same time and emerges from the muddy depths of a swamp. The white lotus is deeply entrenched in the religious philosophy of many major faiths. It is truly an enigmatic flower as the aura surrounding it is rather abstract, not easily explainable but very strong. It is said that the White lotus has such strong vibrations that it tends to calm animals!
It is generally believed that white flowers are only suitable for somber occasion, however that is hardly true. A white flower can be used for a celebration as well as for mourning. Their meaning and symbolization is so varied, what with each white flower having its own symbolization, that it is difficult to classify them all together.
