In some cases where the flower is not of local origin, a state wildflower too is delegated. As in the case of Alabama where the state flower is a Camellia but since it is of Japanese origin, the goldenrod was announced as the state wildflower at the same time. State Flowers are an important part of state parades where large floats decorated with the state flower do the rounds. Students are also taught about the State Flowers at School.
