One would think its rather ridiculous giving flowers to new born babies, seeing as how they will hardly know what they are much less appreciate the gesture. But truth remains that despite the nomenclature ‘baby flowers’, the flowers are intended for the proud father and mother to congratulate them for bringing a small bundle of joy into this world. It’s an age-old tradition and considered most appropriate to take flowers to the newborn baby. It is said that this custom has its roots in the legend of the three wise men bearing gifts for the Baby Jesus, except that all the gold and silver has been replaced with flowers, in keeping with the times. In my opinion, under the new baby flower category, artificial flowers remain most suitable. The primary reason for this being that most fresh flowers have pollens which are highly allergic, most adults have developed a strong immunity against them but for a new born child whose body is still adjusting to the environment, exposure to allergens would not be a wise idea. And besides artificial flowers, with good care, can last a long time. With the large variety available these days, artificial flowers are no longer considered tacky. In fact silk flowers are very realistic and look wonderful.

So that brings us to the question, what is the most suitable type of flower to present to a new baby? Well, the answer is pretty simple, since there’s a long time left for the baby to make up his mind as to what his favorite flowers will be, the next best thing to do is to take the flowers which are the mother’s favorite. Roses
Roses are always a safe choice because even a layman knows that roses signify love from the provider. However, the color can say a lot too, so your best bet is yellow roses which symbolize affection and best wishes or a white rose which has long been associated with purity and peace.

It is said that Calla lilies are one of the most delicate flowers in the world. How appropriate to gift someone the most delicate flower to congratulate them for their own little flower. Calla lilies signify respect and virtue.
Chrysanthemum
They represent hope and optimism. Many a legends link chrysanthemums to longevity, therefore gifting chrysanthemums to someone reflects that you wish them a long and happy life.
