Christmas as a festival is considered a day to thank the Lord for sending his son to save the people. It celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ who died for his people. In many countries, particularly in the west, businesses, communities and schools have Christmas parties and Christmas celebration kick off weeks before the big day. In fact Christmas is no longer just 25th December but the entire Christmas season which starts immediately after Thanksgiving and goes on till the 6th of January. People get together to prepare nativities depicting the life and times of Christ while others go caroling around the neighborhood to spread some cheer.
Christmas, for many nations, is like the annual end of the year extravaganza. Most retails shops report increased sales and profits and new products are introduced each day as people scurry around to buy Christmas gifts. The day after Thanksgiving, also known as Black Friday is when the holiday shopping kicks off full time.
