In terms of size and fragrance, Oriental lilies top the list. They begin to bloom in late summer, when Asiatic lilies end their blooming season. An Oriental lily flower comes in lighter shade of colors, like white, crimson, etc. but they are bordered by contrasting colors. To get the best bloom, an Oriental lily flower must be protected from scorching heat of the sun and heavy winds.
Growing at the same time with Oriental flower are the Trumpet lilies. This type of lily flower bears a look of trumpet giving the flower its name. They bloom facing outwards and has a strong infusing scent. Earlier only lighter shades of trumpet lily like, white or yellow was found. But due to, recent hybridization with Oriental lilies, pastel shades are available too.
Apart from these, there is some turban like lily flower called Turk's cap lily. They bloom singularly and not in groups. They are small in size and have a waxy coating on them. A Turk's cap lily comes in bright colors like yellow-orange, burgundy and white. Petals of this lily are sometimes spotted.
