A flower garden is the best way to be in continuous communion with nature. A beautiful flower garden provides respite to tired eyes. Flowers add color and warmth to your garden and if the flowering plants are arranged in the correct way then your garden can be a beautiful piece of art. A good flower garden must have a balanced combination of perennials, bulbs, annuals, ornamental plants, roses and proper greenery.

The flowers in the garden must have the correct combination of size, color and perfume. Some of the garden flowers that make a garden look really attractive and bright are the lily of the Nile, foxtail lily and various varieties of tulips. Varieties like Estella Rijnveld and parrot tulips are available in shades of red and can add a bold colorful touch to your flower garden.
Delphiniums usually blossom in abundance and are found in shades of pink, indigo, white, blue and cobalt. Tall-bearded iris is approximately 4 to 6 inches in width and is usually the center of attraction of any garden because of its bright hues. All these flowers are of vibrant hues and enchant the viewers with their unique beauty. Other flowers popularly grown in flower gardens are:
  • Roses
  • Daffodils
  • Lilacs
  • Daisies
  • Dahlias
  • Aster
  • Petunia
  • Marigold
Flower gardens should be located where they will always be in full sight like pathways or patches in front of the window. Before growing a flower garden there are few things that must be kept in mind. Firstly, the lawn must not be too shady. There should be enough sunlight. The lawn should be weeded properly before sowing the flower seeds. Before selecting the plants for the garden it is important to check the pH level of the soil. Flowers thrive well in mildly acidic soil, that is, pH level of 6.0 to 7.0. Moreover, the seeds used should be of good commercial quality. The plants should be watered regularly.

It is a very intelligent idea to combine perennial flowering plants, that is, plants that die in winter and grow again in spring, with annuals, that is, plants that live for only a year. The logic behind this is that annual flowers bloom faster than the perennials. So the garden will not be bare of flowers while the perennials grow. And when the annuals will wither, the perennials will be ready to bloom. So, in this way, the flower garden will look colorful throughout the year.

The best prize for a creator of a flower garden is to have the evening tea amidst beautiful blossoms grown by his/her own hands. Having a flower garden can be the most rewarding experience. You can actually follow the growing process from seeds to full bloom. For more information on flower gardens you can check the other articles in Dgreetings.com.
