Floral Arrangements

"Every flower is a soul blossoming in nature"

Flowers are sunshine for the soul with healing powers. They spell happiness, laughter and positivity. And flower arrangements have been an age old tradition dating back to the Egyptians, Greeks, the Romans and the Chinese. Be it an event of happiness like weddings and celebrations, or solemn moments of remembering the departed soul, flowers arrangements speak of the emotions hidden in one’s heart.

Flower Arrangements

The term flower arrangement presupposes the word design. Keeping a bunch of random flowers is not flower arrangement. There has to be a harmony of line, form, colour, and texture, blended with balance contrast and proportion with an emphasis. Based on the principles of design, there are three styles of flower arrangements:

  • Oriental Style
  • Traditional and Western Style
  • Contemporary Style
Flower arrangements based on the styles and shapes are as follows:
  • Bouquets:

  • Simple and easy to assemble a harmonious bunch of the same flowers or a contrasting combination of flowers are used. The flowers should either contrast in shape or in colour. Roses, carnations and gerberas are normally for this arrangement.

In this style flowers are arranged in water with the aim of bringing nature indoors with an effort to extend the life span of the flowers. The containers used for this arrangements range from bronze to teakwood and bamboo. In certain styles of Ikebana the arrangement consists of the harmonious blend of dried as well as fresh flowers.
