In order to promote the cultivation of Arkansas wild flowers, the AHTD or the Arkansas State Highway and transportation department, has devised an interesting project. The AHTD has started growing wild flowers along the roadsides of the 200,000 acres of highway in Arkansas. Most of the seeds are provided by state sponsors. This wild flower project will not only foster the growth of rare and almost extinct wild flowers but will also add to the scenic beauty of Arkansas. The advantage of having wild flower beds is that their maintenance cost is low and it also acts as a program for creating public awareness. Every year nearly 60 programmes operate to promote the growth of Arkansas wild flower.
Different types of books are also available on Arkansas wild flowers providing information on how to take care of them, the weeding process, watering routine, etc. to foster wild flower gardens in Arkansas and also to make people more interested in wild flowers. The rich soil condition in Arkansas is particularly favorable for the growth of wild flowers.
