Father's day is celebrated worldwide in honor of dads on the third Sunday of the month of June. On this particular day the fathers are given special treatments and are presented with some nice and elegant Father's Day gifts to make them feel all the more special for the rest of the year to come. But the Father's day origin has many controversies attached to it. As according to some sources Father's day originated as a church service in the country of West Virginia during the year 1908.While some are of the view that Father's Day origin took place in Vancouver, Washington. |

| The first Father's Day celebrations are said to take place in the year 1915 by Harry Meek, who was the president of the Lion's Club branch in Chicago. The day chosen for the Father's day celebrations was the nearest date to Meek's birth date. |
Some experts also give the honor of Father's Day celebrations to Mrs. Bruce John Dodd of Spokane in Washington. Mrs. Dodd admired her father a lot who contributed his entire life for the welfare of his children. Mrs. Dodd's mother had died at a very young age and her father single handedly raised six kids and that too very efficiently.
Mrs. Dodd wanted to do something special in the honor of her father's doings and hence approached her ministers for a church service especially dedicated to her father on his birthday, June 5. As the date was too near, the minister chose to spoke a few days after that is on June 19th. Since then the third Sunday of the month of June came to be celebrated as Father's Day in Washington. |

In the year 1919, President Woodrow Wilson decided to accept Father's Day celebrations and in the year 1924, the then President Calvin Coolidge adopted the event as a national festival in order to "establish more intimate relations between fathers and their children and to impress upon fathers the full measure of their obligations." Thus the third Sunday of June came to be celebrated as Father's day, a day reserved specially for dads all over the world. Christmas Origin |
