How to Make an Easter Egg

It’s spring again and joy is in the air. You want your Easter celebrations to be lot of fun and simply wonderful. You don’t want to buy ready-made Easter eggs from the market. You wish to make some nice Easter eggs at home and are you still wondering how to make an Easter Egg? Then read on for some exciting ideas on decorating Easter eggs.
The very first step to make an Easter egg is to get an egg – hardboiled or hollowed out by blowing into it. If you want to eat your hardboiled egg then do not paint it with acrylic colors. Dyeing them with natural food coloring would be a better idea. If you want to keep your decorated Easter eggs for a long time then you must use blown eggs. Here’s a word of caution – blown eggs are very fragile and children may have difficulty in handling them. For a blown egg, use a large needle to make small holes on both the sides of the egg. Break the yoke by pushing the needle through the hole and twisting it around. Blow hard through one end of the egg into a bowl kept below it. The empty egg shells should be washed properly and dried before they are worked upon.

You can make an Easter egg using a variety of methods like –

  • Using natural dye – Various plants, fruits and vegetables can be used as natural dyes to color the Easter egg.

  • Marbling the eggs – Put grated wax crayons in hot water. When the crayons start to melt put the eggs into the water. The melted crayons will make interesting patterns on the egg. Dry the eggs and seal the patterns with an acrylic spray.

  • Dyeing with food color – Add vinegar when dyeing your eggs with food color.

  • Waxed eggs – Put melted wax on the egg. Let it dry. Then put it in dye. After dyeing remove the wax from the egg to reveal an interesting pattern.

  • Painting with sponge – Dip sponge in paint and dab on the eggs. Let the egg dry. Then use acrylic spray on it for finishing touches.

  • Using crepe paper to dye eggs – Use separate bowls for different colors.

  • Dip and dye process – Dip the eggs into dye after putting masking tapes on them. This will allow you to dye eggs in multiple colors.
