Greek bread on the Easter day holds a special significance for the Greeks as the food is eaten by paying marked respect to Jesus Christ. There are different ways through which Greek Easter bread can be made. This bread is baked only on Good Friday. Here is sharing with you a special Greek Easter bread recipe. Like other recipes, this dish can be made from ingredients which are easily available at home. To make Greek Easter bread, you will need----

1 cup of milk
4 1/2 or 5 1/2 tablespoon of flour depending on the requirement
3/4 cups of sugar
1 1/2 tablespoon of yeast
3 eggs
1 egg yolk
1 tsp of salt
1/2 cup of butter,
2 tsp of fruit juice
2 tsp of orange peel
2 tsp of vanilla
And 8 dyed hard boiled eggs.

Fore mostly make two braided loaves or 8 small loaves. Then heat the milk to a warm temperature and mix it with 1 1/2 cups of flour, sugar and yeast and continue doing so until it gets thickened. While in the meantime, in your electric mixer, combine together dough hook eggs, along with the yeast mixture and add another 1 cup of flour, orange peel and salt, and to soften it pour butter vanilla and fruit juice. Mix well all these and finally add the remaining flour to form soft, gummy dough, and do so until gets smooth. Later, add a coat of vegetable oil and warm it up for a second or two under mild heat. When it gets a little warm cover it up with plastic or towel and let it rise, until it gets doubled in size. Serve it hot and you can also garnish it with red cherries to make it look more appealing.
