Easter Egg Hunt

Decorated eggs are an essential part of everyone’s Easter celebrations. They’re edible, pretty, and loads of fun in many different scenarios. The most popular Easter game is, of course, the ubiquitous egg hunt. People are bound to participate in many traditional Easter egg hunts over the course of the holiday, but there are plenty of variations and other fun games that can be played with Easter eggs, too.
Ideas for an Easter Egg Hunt
Organize your Easter egg hunt according to the traditional theme, or try changing the rules to spice things up! Here are some ideas to get you started.
Numbers and Gifts
If you’re going to host an Easter party and invite several other families, put this egg hunt together for the children. Hide plastic eggs in different places around the house, and then challenge the kids to find them once the celebration begins. Towards the end of the day, give out prizes to the children who have found the most eggs, and have some special rewards ready in case they find the one or two uniquely decorated ones that were hidden in the most difficult places.
Pass the Easter Egg Here’s another twist on a classic Easter games. Try printing out small pieces of paper, each spelling out the name of a prize or an activity to be performed. Tuck them inside plastic Easter eggs, or glue them to the outside of decorated real ones. Shuffle the eggs and arrange them on a tray or inside egg cartons.

During the party, circulate these eggs around the room, and have your guests each choose one. People will receive the prize written on the paper, or alternatively, they will have to perform the indicated activity (singing and dancing, for example). Another way to play this game is to pass around the egg carton while music plays, and then whoever is stuck holding it when the music stops must pick an egg at random. They’ll either receive a prize, or be obligated to do whatever task is written on or in the egg! This activity is similar to pass-the-parcel or musical chairs. Reverse Easter Egg Hunt
This interesting spin on a classic Easter egg hunt is similar in most ways, with one important difference: instead of the parents hiding the eggs, the children will hide them for a change! Then it will be up to the parents to find them all, and the kids can decide on whom to give out the prizes to.

Organizing an Easter Egg Hunt
An Easter egg hunt may be all fun and games, but it’s still a good idea to work out a plan well in advance. Think about what could go wrong, and try to prevent it. Use plastic or boiled eggs to mitigate breakages, make sure you have more than enough for all your guests, and keep everyone you’ve invited up to speed on what sort of events will be going on at your Easter party. They might need to make preparations, too.

If you’re going to be giving out prizes, then planning ahead is especially important. Choose prizes that fit the tone of your gathering and are safe and appropriate for everyone: keychains, crayons, candy, photo frames, toys, gift cards, and the like. It might be a good idea to keep the prizes meant for children separate from those you intend to give out to adults. With a little organization, you can make sure that nothing gets in the way of the fun and celebrations on the big day.
