Easter Bun Recipes

Easter celebrates the spiritual rebirth of Jesus, who was crucified at Golgotha, and whose tomb was found empty three days later. Thus Easter is a celebration of renewal and rebirth. And Christians all across the globe indulge in the festivities of Easter. However in certain places this day is observed as the day of Black Fast, because many do not eat at all until sundown.
However, particular food stuff that is intimately associated with and universally eaten on this day is the Hot Cross Bun. Hot Cross Buns are traditional food stuffs served on Easter. So, settle in and look into some of the delicious Easter bun recipes.

Ingredients:
1 oz fresh yeast
1 lb plain flour
4 fl. oz milk
2 oz melted butter
4 fl. oz. Water
1 beaten egg
1 teaspoon salt
1 heaped teaspoon ground mixed spice
2 oz raisins
2 oz mixed peel
2 oz Caster sugar

Method: Firstly cream the sugar and fresh yeast together. Then pour the beaten egg to this mixture. Warm the milk, water and butter then add these to the sugar/yeast mixture. Then add flour, mixed peel, salt, raisins and mixed spice to make dough. Knead for about 5 minutes until the dough gets stiff and smooth. Cover and leave until the dough has doubled in size. Now push back the risen dough to its original size. Roll into small buns, place on a well-greased baking tray. Leave for these to rise for approx. 30 mins.
