Earth Day idea has been conceived back in the year 1970 and is a day to celebrate consciousness about Mother Earth. This day instills in all of us to imbibe awareness about our environment and how we can keep it clean and green. Usually the Earth day date falls on 22 April. Now, this day is celebrated across the globe annually. The first Earth Day celebration was in the year 1970. In the Northern Hemisphere, Earth day is celebrated in spring and in the Southern Hemisphere, it is celebrated in autumn.
It is on spring equinox that United Nations celebrates their Earth Day every year, generally the date of which falls on 20 March. This custom was devised by peace activist John McConnell in the year 1969.
