When the word mistletoe comes across our ears, we think what exactly it is? Well mistletoe is parasitic botanical plant that is partly parasitic and so is said to be a hemi parasite. Mistletoe is well known among people as a legendary Christmas flower. It is said to be a hemi parasite as it can grow and can make food on its own through the process of photosynthesis. It is seen that mistletoe is generally found to be growing as a parasitic plant, as it grows on the twigs or stem of trees.
Types Of Mistletoe

Mistletoe is of two types that are given below:

Phoradendron flavescens: This mistletoe is used for Christmas decoration and is an inhabitant of North America. This mistletoe grows as a parasite on the trees from New Jersey to Florida. This mistletoe is said to be a Christmas flower

Viscum album: This is the second type of mistletoe that was believed to have some supernatural powers and so it became associated with many traditions. It originates in Europe and is a small flowering shrub bearing yellow flowers and white berries that are considered to be toxic.

Christmas is celebrated all over the world and there are several traditions associated with Christmas that are followed by people. A popular custom related to mistletoe and Christmas was practiced before and the custom is, at the Christmas time a twig of mistletoe is hanged at the door and if any female is crossing that mistletoe plant then she can be kissed by a near by gentleman and she cant say no. This tradition made the sale of mistletoe plants in demand just like the other Christmas plants that were sold during the Christmas time.
