Join us as we celebrate our country's birthday in Canada's Capital Region! A myriad of free activities take place throughout the day on both sides of the Ottawa River — including street entertainers, games, ceremonies and performances — all culminating in a breathtaking fireworks show in the night sky. Don your red and white, and take part in the festivities, as we proudly celebrate our country's history and our Canadian traditions.

Canada Day Events In Vancouver

Canada Day at Granville Island

What:

Granville Island's huge Canada Day celebration includes a Parade, a Truly Canadian Pancake Breakfast, an official Canada Day Ceremony, live jazz, performers, and MELA!, a South Asian cultural fair. This is the best venue for families with young kids: bring a picnic blanket and take breaks to let the kids run at the free Granville Island Water Park.

Canada Day at Canada Place


What:

Canada Place hosts Downtown Vancouver's biggest Canada Day celebration with a free Waterfront Party that includes live music and entertainment on three stages, followed by the annual Canada Day Parade. Highlights of the 2016 Waterfront Party include 25 music acts, the West Coast Lumberjack Show, sports, and an artisan market.
When: Waterfront Party: 10am - 6pm; Parade starts at 7pm
Where:Canada Place; Parade starts at the corner of Georgia Street & Broughton Street.

Canada Day Burrard Inlet Fireworks Show


What:

Cap off your Canada Day celebrations with this pyrotechnic extravaganza! With barges in Dundarave and Coal Harbour, the annual Fireworks Show will be visible from northwest-side Downtown (Coal Harbour, parts of Stanley Park), West Vancouver (the seawall between Ambleside and Dundarave), North Vancouver (Lower Lonsdale).

Canada Day at the Steveston Salmon Festival


What:

Steveston, Richmond's historic fishing village, attracts over 70,000 visitors to its joint Canada Day and Steveston Salmon Festival. The festival includes a parade, craft shows, cultural events, and Steveston's famous salmon barbecue, where over 1200 pounds of wild salmon filets are grilled over open fire pits.

Surrey Canada Day


What:

OK, this one is not actually in Vancouver....But it has to go on this list because Surrey's Canada Day celebration is both the biggest Canada Day event in western Canada and one of the biggest outdoor concerts in B.C. And it's all FREE! The Fruiticana Fireworks Spectacular follows the concert. Performers for 2016 include multi-platinum award-winning Canadian musician Matthew Good, Barracuda - a Heart Tribute Band, and multiple local musicians from the Lower Mainland.
