Toddler Birthday Party

Unlike a one-year-old baby, a toddler can realize the excitement of his own birthday. In fact it would be the first birthday that he would be able to participate and enjoy. So make sure that you give your toddler a birthday party he can cherish long after.

A toddler’s birthday is easy to plan, as the child is not much selective at this age and enjoys even the tiniest attention he gets. Kids generally develop an interest area by this age. So identify what the toddler likes, and keep it as the party theme. A simple concept like a color, a shape, or a cartoon character would do well for the tiny tot.
Alphabets serve as a common theme for a toddler's birthday party. As the kid gets his first taste of the alphabets, he will definitely find an interest in it. Hang alphabet cutouts, garlands and balloons and give the child an alphabet shaped cake. If the guests are of the same age too, the party favors can include colorful alphabet booklets to match the theme.

Kids love bubbles and would naturally love to have bubbles floating around in their birthday party. The toddler himself can blow bubbles on the invitation cards and as the bubbles burst, they will leave interesting patterns on the card.

At 2 or 3, a kid grows his own likings for cartoons.
So why not let him meet his favorite cartoon character on his birthday? That is, dress someone up as the character and decorate the house with large cutouts of the cartoon. The toddlers would be thrilled to shake hands with the person dressed as Barney or Bob the Builder. You would easily get cakes and piñatas shaped like the chosen character. Your guests would love to eat out of plates and cups having the cartoon printed on them. Disney characters are also quite popular for toddlers’ parties. Here too, make sure that all your supplies are matched with the Disney character your kid likes.

Take the toddler to a fairy world on his birthday. The kids would love to gather on a magic carpet for a story telling session. You can even dress the little ones up like fairy tale characters, donning them in wings, crowns and tiaras.

A party with zoo or farm animals would be delightful for the kids. You can decorate the house like a farm or a zoo with animal cutouts dangling here and there. The kids would have a great time and would learn a lot too!

Circus parties with clowns are also quite common. Decorate the house with bright color papers and give the guests clown hats and noses to wear. The kids would love watching a live clown perform before them. You can either hire a clown or dress someone up as one.

A toddler will surely love the fun and buzz of his party, whatever be the theme. There are however, a few simple things to keep in mind before you throw your toddler a birthday party. Your kid might not enjoy a party in an unfamiliar location. So host the party either at your own house or in a park the child visits often. Make sure that you do not stretch the party beyond a couple of hours, for it might exhaust the kid. Keep the food simple so that the kids can all tuck in comfortably. Give the guests simple games to play, though it would be better not to keep any prize for the winner.

A simple party with simple games to play can be as sweet to the kids as an expensive one. So give your toddler a party he would cherish with fond memories even when he has grown up.
