Pirate Birthday Party Ideas

Stories of pirates have always fascinated us for generations and after the success of “The Pirates of the Caribbean’, the theme has become all the more popular for a birthday party. Pirates, treasures and distant islands would lend the party a different air for sure!

The pirate birthday party is equally fun for kids and grown-ups. Here is how you can throw a party that all your guests would love. The movie itself can provide you some guidelines about the party planning. Invitation cards with pictures of Captain Jack or treasure maps are sure to set the mood for the party. Don't use a regular invitation note for a pirate's birthday party. Write your note using typical pirate vocabulary like ‘ahoy there!' instead of the usual ‘hello!'.
Don the party grounds in black, using a liberal helping of the color on the walls, the costumes and the supplies. You can set up a mock deck to hold the party. Fishing nets hanging from the walls would give the place a look of a real ship.
Use lanterns for lighting and hang pirate flags to make the look more authentic. Sprinkle a few plastic gold-coins here and there. You can even put a toy cannon as the centerpiece.
Ask your guests to dress up as pirates. Make sure they all hang around in skullcaps, pirate scarves and eye patches. A ship shaped birthday cake would be the best for the occasion. Serve the food in plates that have ships or skulls drawn on them.

There cannot be a better game than a treasure hunt in a pirate party. Your guests would be thrilled to hunt the treasure out with maps and riddles for clues. Invent new games like ‘pin the eye patch on the pirate' and let your guests have a party! The kids can also be kept busy in a story session with someone telling the pirate stories we have always loved as kids!

The party favors must point to the theme as well. You can stuff the goodie bags with pirate tattoos, skull masks, tiny plastic fishes and gold-coin chocolates.

The pirate birthday party is sure to be a grand success with your guests and is quite easy to plan and throw!
