A birthday party without games to play can become quite monotonous for the guests, especially if they are children. Here are a few games that can make your party an enjoyable time for the kids.

Indoor Games: If you do not have enough space, or the weather is not favorable, it is always wise to go for simple indoor games.

Piñata is probably the most loved party game for the children. Select the piñatas according to the party theme, stuff it with goodies, and just see how the kids adore it!

Pin the tail on the donkey can be improvised to other names like, ‘Pin the crown on the princess’ to match the theme.

Toss the Bean Bag is another exiting game that kids love. Make cutouts of cartoons of theme characters at which the bags can be thrown.
Cut out animal or cartoon pictures and ask the kids to act them out as a dumb charade.

You can even put in creative games to keep the kids engaged. Painting birthday banners, or making beads necklaces can be interesting activities.

Word making games where children have to think of words starting with a given alphabet, would help to improve the kids’ vocabulary.

Dress-up contests are fun for a child and he can dress as his favorite cartoons and characters.

Treasure hunts can be thrilling both indoors and outdoors. Hide goodie bags or other treasures and give the kids maps and riddles as clues to hunt the treasures out.

Hooplas too are good as indoor and outdoor games, especially if the party theme is a carnival.

Outdoor games: Outdoor games are even more exciting for the kids if you have enough space to arrange them.

The ghost in the graveyard is fun to play with the kids running around to hide before the ghost comes to catch them.

Musical chairs can do well for a child’s birthday party. Arrange colorful plastic chairs for the kids to sit in when the music stops playing.

Wet feet is a variation of musical chairs where you can spread colorful papers on the ground and keep removing them unless there is only one paper left for the children to stand on.

While deciding on which game to arrange for your kid’s birthday party, make sure you have enough space to hold the games in. Even if you have planned for outdoor games, keep some indoor games in hand as you might need them if the weather changes.

Try to avoid too active games for the younger children, and stick to simple ones like balloon throw, or piñata. Select games which kids would enjoy and could play sportingly.

Ask your child what he would like as a game, as this would help you in selecting the games for his party.

With a little imagination, you can make your own exciting games, and give the kids a wonderful time!
