Fried items and dairy products are the Hanukkah special delicacies. Fried items are consumed to commemorate the eight-day oil miracle and dairy products are consumed to bring back to our mind the memories of the Jewish heroine Yehudit (Judith) who saved her village from the Syrians.
Hanukkah Prayers
The Hanukkah prayers are chanted to thank the Almighty for all that he has blessed us with. The first blessing is dedicated to the Almighty who blessed us all with his commandments and commanded all to light the menorah. The second is to thank all the ancestors who have performed the miracle of restoring the Jewish Civilization. The third blessing is also intended to thank the Lord who has kept all alive, sustained all and enabled all to reach the season.
